People in New York City love pizza so much that it’s causing a problem: a pizza box pileup! Visitors to the city’s famous Central Park often have pizza picnics. But the leftover boxes are too bulky to fit in public trash and recycling bins.
Leaving greasy boxes on the ground creates litter and attracts rats. So in May 2024, Central Park officials introduced recycling bins specially designed for pizza boxes. The bins have now been installed at locations throughout New York City. They will help people recycle more effectively and send fewer materials to landfills.
